Grenade Attack at Jammu Bus Stand

Jammu . The terrorists once again tried to attack and harm normal lives by attacking the main bus stand which is in the middle of Jammu City. This time the terrorist attacked with grenade.In this blast a teenager died and 34 other people got injured. Grenade blast took place at the  bus stand near Punjab Roadways bus. The target of terrorists were an unarmed traveler.

The teenager who died is  identified as Mohammad Sharik (17) as Uttarakhand resident. After the attack, security has been tightened in the city. Out of all  the injured people, 24 are residents of Jammu and Kashmir and others are residents of Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and  Uttarakhand. Governor Satyapal Malik has directed to give Five Lakh Rupees to the family of the deceased and Rs 20 thousand each to the injured in the attack.

This is the third grenade attack on the main bus stand of Jammu in the last nine months. Lat year in June 2018 and December 28, 2018, there were  grenade attacks too. Jammu Zone’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) MK Sinha told that the terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen has been  arrested within four hours after the attack. The terrorist has been identified as Yasir Javed Butt resident of Kulgam, South Kashmir. Yasir came from Kashmir a day earlier and after  accomplishing the attack throwing  he was was running back to Kulgam. Police arrested him about 20 kilometers from Jammu. He is under interrogation.

In the morning the Punjab Roadways  bus  which was going to Amritsar from Jammu Railway Station turned towards BC ROAD. And suddenly there was a powerful explosion near the entrance of the door. With the blast people started running here and there. At first some people thought that the tire of the bus got busted , but as soon as  they saw the people with blood stains falling on the ground, it was clear that their is something fishy.

The explosion happened, near the Punjab Roadways Bus. There were only two passengers so they were not injured.  Those who were standing outside the bus they got injured. Two more buses were coming behind and those two buses too were empty. And with the bang sound, the glass of both buses got broke. With the help of Local shopkeepers, bus people and police took  all the injured people to the Government Medical College.

When the information about the grenade blast was found, the governor’s adviser Senior officers of various security agencies including Vijay Kumar, IGP MK Sinha, DIG of Jammu Kathua Range, Vivek Gupta, SSP Tejendra Singh, reached the location.  Officers of Forensic Science Laboratory were also called  to collect the evidence samples. Apart from this, the Dog Squad team was called, to ensure that there was no explosive material in the bus stand. After this attack, the police has also arrested about 12 suspects.

According to one of eyewitnesses   The blast occurred at Exit Point of main stand on BC Road. At that time, the state road was coming out of the Transport Corporation bus  stand. And  a grenade dropped near the bus and burst with a vigorous blast.

Chief Secretary BVR Subramanyam, Vijay Kumar, Advisor to the Governor Vijay Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Sanjeeva Verma, IGP Jammu Munish Sinha, SSP Jammu Tejendra Singh, and other senior officials reached state medical college hospital and  interacted with the injured people who were standing in the bus stand to gather some more information about the  grenade attack.
